JUDIANNE: WILDFLOWER NATURAL SOAP

My soap journey. Judianne Who would’ve thought many years ago when I had this desire to create soaps, that it would take me 10 years to actually start! I must say once I started I couldn’t stop. My background as an esthetician, aromatherapist & body care buyer for Whole Foods led me in a certain direction. My first inclination was to go completely natural using only natural colors with all these incredible herbs and clays. I actually wanted the soap to look like that rustic cheese that you saw in these high-end specialty shops with the cheese looking so appetizing with the herbs visible to the naked eye. I  created those soaps with hot process method, to look just like that starting out with chamomile, lemongrass, calendula and coloring with turmeric, green tea and beautiful clays. We all have our ideas when we first begin but times change and so do our taste.

I wanted clientele that could understand the natural way of living! I now understand what I didn’t realize was, that, by my own mindset, I was eliminating customers who wanted handcrafted but liked pretty designs and colors that were brighter and perhaps more pleasing to the eye.

I stayed pretty true to myself for 3 years and then I wanted to play with the colors and designs, so I now added micas to my color stock. Oh, I discovered color and the various shades of each and every color. I still won’t use neon colors but I think I have pretty much every shade of purple there is, considering my first company name was “Lavender Dreams” and yes, I do  have a purple tent for the big art shows! . Go big, or go home!

I still prefer to use essential oils but I have added a few fragrance oils as well! I believe I can say that I am finally broadening my horizons to appeal to a much wider audience. Why not, we don’t want to exclude anyone in our sales nor are we making soap just for us!

LIGHT CURVES GLASS STUDIO

My passion for glass started 22 years ago when I walked into a stained glass retail shop in Clifton NJ. I simply fell in love with glass in an instant . The colors, movement and texture of the glass got me giddy with excitement and I started making Christmas gifts for friends immediately. I was already comfortable cutting glass as I worked in a frame shop for years.

The venture into jewelry making began shortly after in 1992 as a desire to utilize the cut off pieces of glass from my custom windows. I started with making earrings for friends and myself and it quickly evolved into a full line of jewelry that is constantly growing each season.

Each piece is hand cut by myself with a simple glass cuter than ground by eye to a pleasing desired shape. I use both Art glass and hand blown glass. Silver findings are added and or soldered to the piece and some pieces also incorporate semi precious stones.

Then in 1996 Light Curves expanded in its offering after I was lucky to apprentice under Ecclesiastical master glass painter Alberto Postiano in Siena, Italy learning the fine art of painting on glass, and glass fusing techniques. The addiction to create pieces in glass increased and I added a fused line of jewelry as well as hand painted pieces.

The studio consists of myself and my partner, best friend, husband, and collaborator, Nicholas Clemente who is fine artist and graphic designer owner of Design lab. And our 2 highly evolved cats, Oli and Kali

The studio produces custom jewelry, stained glass windows (both Tiffany and lead came), lighting fixtures, bowls, kaleidoscope and more.

Techniques include: stained glass leading and Tiffany technique. grisaille painting, enamel, and silver stain, glass fusing, slumping, mosaic, and mold making, and glass sculpture.

LIBBY’S GARDEN MARKET

Libby’s Garden Market is a small homestead in North Branch, NY, nestled in the foothills of the western Catskill Mountains. Gardeners and makers Elisabeth Sinsabaugh and Eric de la Cova are inspired by their daily connection with nature, the desire to build community, and a passion for homegrown, homecooked food.

The abundance of naturally grown produce from their 3,000-square-foot garden and edible landscape led them to open a garden market on their property in 2024. They also began offering small-batch, handcrafted items inspired by the garden.

They offer uncommon and traditional baked goods that honor time-honored recipes while embracing creativity. Additionally, the market features specialty seasonal produce, jams, black garlic, dog biscuits, granola, plants, cut flowers, and various garden-inspired products.
