5K SAP RUN 2023
SATURDAY MAY 20th
In 1996, Jeffersonville native and running enthusiast John McCormack suggested a race to coincide with the Jeffersonville Area Chamber of Commerce Jeff Jamboree festival, and the 5K Jeff Jam was born.
27 years later, John has been diagnosed with Bulbar ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease noted for the rapid decline and significantly reduced quality of life for those like John who suffer it. There is no cure for the estimated 6,500 people diagnosed annually in the U.S.
Throughout his life, John has combined his love of community with his love for the outdoors. An avid fisherman, skier, and hiker, John and his wife Sue settled in Jeffersonville following his Air Force career. Here and with his three children, John coached and refereed youth soccer, Tball, and little league baseball which he umpired. John supported Jeffersonville for years as a parade and event coordinator and significantly as a volunteer fireman.
This year’s 5K Sap Run, the descendent of John’s original 5K Jeff Jam, is dedicated to defeating ALS. As a race entrant, pay an additional $5.00 and receive the Sap Run ALS t-shirt. As a non-runner, you can support the cause with a $30 t-shirt purchase. Or you can donate any amount by visiting our event on Eventbrite.
Thank you in advance for honoring John’s contribution to Jeffersonville by supporting the defeat of ALS.
See you at the run.
